October 24- Names in Winter Gear
We did some science today and we learned what different animals do to get ready for winter: adapt, hibernate, and migrate! Ask me what animals do each of these things!
In ELA we learned that -s makes a 'z' sound when at the end of a word because the last letter in the word (before the plural 's') uses your vocal cords. Example: cats vs dogs. Notice the 'g' in dogs, uses part of your vocals which then will make the 's' sound like a 'z'.
We then learned about where uppercase letters belong- beginning of a sentence and the first letter of names.
In math we worked with some manipulative blocks to better understand tens and their place value. As well as to help kids subitize or do math fast in their heads.
Today was library day for both classes. These books can be held until next Tuesday! Careful not to get them wet in the snow!
Both classes had gym today and Mr. Graham's class had music.
*We are still on the look out for a couple more pumpkin donations for Halloween. You will get the pumpkin back that day with all the insides removed. Then you and your family can carve that pumpkin before Trick or Treating if you choose, without all the messy pumpkin bits!
** If we could have names written in your snow/winter gear, that would greatly help our classes! Many students forget what they own and these items may end up in the lost and found when no one claims them in the classroom. Already we have set of black snow pants in Mr. Graham's class that every child has said does not belong to them. They will be held on to in the classroom for a couple days before being put into the general Copperfield Lost and Found
Drive safe, stay warm, enjoy the snow!
